Verde Valley Medical Center
From a small outpatient clinic in 1939, Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood has grown into a full-service, 99-bed, nonprofit hospital serving North Central Arizona. Four locations serve the Verde Valley and surrounding communities: Cottonwood campus, Sedona campus, Camp Verde Health Center, and Village of Oak Creek Health Center. More than 800 professional and support staff are employed at VVMC. The Medical Staff is comprised of nearly 100 physicians representing 25 medical specialties. VVMC is licensed by the state of Arizona and certified by Medicare.
Some parts of the hospital that will see either new or renovated space include:
- New women’s health area that will feature a separate imaging (X-ray) suite, two ultrasound rooms, two mammography rooms, and a stereotactic bone density room
- Private waiting area for exclusive use by imaging patients and guests
- New laboratory suite with five draw stations
- Relocated Respiratory Care Services
- Renovated Cardiology Care Unit
As part of the project, VVMC also is developing a dedicated Pediatrics Unit for increased services to the growing population of children in the Verde Valley and surrounding areas. VVMC receives national award - August 5, 2008
Verde Valley Medical Center is one of only two hospitals in Arizona to receive a 2008 Gold Award and be recognized in the July 14 U.S. News and World Report, America’s Best Hospitals issue by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) program announcement for performance achievement award winners in cardiac and stroke patient care. VVMC’s Gold Award demonstrates sustained performance (two or more years at 85 percent or higher adherence) to all performance measures for coronary artery disease.

The Cottonwood Area Transit, known as CAT, provides both demand and deviated route services. Service extends into Clarkdale, Verde Village and Bridgeport.
The original Dial-A-Ride is a door-to-door service provided to all residents of the communities of Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Bridgeport and Verde Village. Rides for this service must be reserved with the CAT office at least 48 hours in advance.

Shuttle Service - Phoenix Airport to/from Cottonwood

Cottonwood Airport
The Cottonwood Municipal Airport (P52) is located approximately two miles west of State Highway (SR) 260 and one quarter mile southwest of SR 89A, at 1001 West Mingus Avenue in the City of Cottonwood. The Airport is situated on 210 acres at an elevation of 3,550 feet MSL (above mean sea level. The City of Cottonwood is easily accessed from either Phoenix (approximately 100 miles south) or Flagstaff (approximately 50 miles north) via Interstate 17 and SR 260.
The Airport is served by a single asphalt runway, Runway 14-32, which is oriented in a northwest-southeast direction. The runway measures 4, 250 feet in length by 75 feet in width, with 300-foot stopways at each runway end.
